വിദ്യാര്‍ഥിസമരത്തിന്റെ പേരില്‍ സിഎംഎസ് കോളേജ്അധികാരികള്‍ പുറത്താക്കിയ ജയ്ക്ക് സി തോമസ് പഠനത്തിനൊപ്പം സാംസ്കാരിക പ്രവര്‍ത്തനത്തിലും ശ്രദ്ധേയന്‍. പരന്ന വായനയ്ക്കൊപ്പം ഇംഗ്ളീഷ് ക്ളാസിക് ഗ്രന്ഥങ്ങളിലെ അറിവും വിദ്യാര്‍ഥികള്‍ക്ക് മാതൃകയായി. അമേരിക്കന്‍ പ്രസിഡന്റ് ജോര്‍ജ് ബുഷ് രാജിവച്ചപ്പോള്‍ 'ഫീല്‍ യുവര്‍ ബൂട്സ് 'എന്ന വ്യത്യസ്ത പരിപാടി സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചു. കോളേജ് പ്രവേശന കവാടത്തിലേക്കുള്ള റോഡില്‍ ബുഷിന്റെ ചിത്രങ്ങള്‍ പതിപ്പിച്ച് ഉയര്‍ത്തെഴുനേല്‍ക്കാനാവാത്ത ബുഷിന്റെ മൂന്നാം നാള്‍ എന്നെഴുതിയത് ക്യാംപസിനെ ആവേശം കൊള്ളിച്ചത് ബിഎ കമ്യൂണിക്കേറ്റീവ് ഇംഗ്ളീഷ് വിദ്യാര്‍ഥിയായ ഈ പത്തൊമ്പതുകാരനാണ്. കോളേജിലെ സാംസ്കാരിക വേദിയായ 'പ്രസരം' പുനരാരംഭിച്ചത് ജയ്ക്കിന്റെ മുന്‍കൈയിലാണ്.
'ഞാന്‍ പാവങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ഭക്ഷണം കൊടുത്തപ്പോള്‍ നിങ്ങളന്നെ വിശുദ്ധനാക്കി, അവരെന്ത് കൊണ്ട് പട്ടിണി കിടക്കുന്നു എന്ന് അന്വേഷിച്ചപ്പോള്‍ നിങ്ങളന്നെ കമ്യൂണിസ്റ്റാക്കി' ബ്രസീലിയന്‍ ആര്‍ച്ച് ബിഷപ് കാമറൂണിന്റെ വാക്കുകള്‍ പോസ്റ്ററായപ്പോഴാണ് ജെയ്ക്ക് കോളജ് അധികൃതരുടെ കണ്ണിലെ കരടായത്.
കോളെജിലെ സിനിമാ പ്രദര്‍ശനത്തില്‍ ആന്റി ക്രൈസ്റ്റ് പ്രദര്‍ശിപ്പിച്ചതും അധികൃതരെ ചൊടിപ്പിച്ചു. ഇതാണ് ജെയ്ക്കിനെ പുറത്താക്കുന്നതില്‍ കലാശിച്ചത്. തന്നെ പുറത്താക്കിയ മാനേജ്മെന്റിന്റെ നടപടിക്കെതിരെ 'ക്രൂരരായ ഭരണാധിപന്മാരെ, പൂക്കളെ നിങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് നുള്ളിയെറിയാം. പക്ഷെ വസന്തത്തിന്റെ വരവിനെ തടയാന്‍ ആവില്ല' എന്ന നെരൂദയുടെ വാക്കുകള്‍കൊണ്ടാണ് ജെയ്ക്ക് സി തോമസ് ഊര്‍ജം പകര്‍ന്നത്.

ആര്‍ച്ച് ബിഷപ് മാര്‍ ജോസഫ് പൌവ്വത്തിലിന്റെ സിഎംഎസ് സ്നേഹം ധൃതരാഷ്ട്രാലിംഗനമാണെന്ന് ഡിവൈഎഫ്ഐ സംസ്ഥാന സെക്രട്ടറി ടി വി രാജേഷ് പറഞ്ഞു. ഡിവൈഎഫ്ഐ ചങ്ങനാശേരി ബ്ളോക്ക് കണ്‍വന്‍ഷന്‍ ഉദ്ഘാടനം ചെയ്യുകയായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹം. സിഎംഎസ് കോളേജിന് മുന്നില്‍ 50 ദിവസം നീണ്ട സത്യഗ്രഹസമരം കാണാത്ത മാധ്യമങ്ങള്‍ എസ്എഫ്ഐ പ്രവര്‍ത്തകരെ മോശക്കാരാക്കുന്ന ഇരട്ടത്താപ്പാണ് കാണിച്ചത്. കേരളത്തില്‍ വിവാദ വ്യവസായം നടത്താനുള്ള നീക്കമാണ് വലതുപക്ഷ മാധ്യമങ്ങളും തീവ്ര ഇടതുപക്ഷക്കാരും ചേര്‍ന്ന് നടത്തുന്നത്. കേരളത്തിലെ കിങ്മേക്കറാകാണ് ചില റിട്ട. ബിഷപുമാരുടെ ശ്രമമെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു. ഭഗത്സിങ് നഗറില്‍ (മുനിസിപ്പല്‍ ടൌണ്‍ഹാള്‍) നടന്ന കണ്‍വന്‍ഷനില്‍ പ്രസിഡന്റ് സി സനല്‍കുമാര്‍ അധ്യക്ഷനായി.

ReplyDeletePlease dont pretend to be the "educated class". Whoever talks left politics here are all educated and having better view of the socio-economic status of our country and working class. And now that you mentioned about Castro, fyi, Cuba has the best doctor-per-patients ratio than any other country in the world, even US. Their referral system of health centres and hospitals are just the best.
Now, why don't you first study about them and come back?

ReplyDeleteCuba has good healthcare, medical education setups and primary education system. but the question is how do they do it? it is compulsory for a doc to work under govt system for 'nominal' remuneration. they dont have an option to go elsewhere. its the same for education system (primary education). such a system in an authoritarian regime in a comparatively small country like Cuba wl work as long as ppl are ready to give away their personal freedom (or some elements of it). Cuba still have some restrictions about filming etc. So data coming from Cuban Govt cant be fully verified though the success of medical and education system is a verified fact.

its a fact that people try to escape from Cuba (or China or North Korea) because of the oppression there.
DISCLAIMER: i have not been to any of the countries i have mentioned and all the info i got from watching documentaries in various channles (Discovery/ABC etc). the independence of these channels cant be verified.And lastly, i may not be as learned as those leftist bloggers who have commented here.

ReplyDeletenow you cannot deny the fact so you strive to find fault like in the story of 'the fox and the goat'. You know, Cuban medical people can work abroad and are present in many underdeveloped countries of the world and are preventing so many catasrophes. "Cuba provides more medical personnel to the developing world than all the G8 countries combined" says Wikipedia.
You say "Such a system will never work in a country like India which is religiously and culturally diverse" - actually if we, Indians were truly RELIGIOUS, Indian doctors should have preffered working for the well being of their fellowmen & women (here the remuneration is not nominal as well) rather than joining the race to amass money.
Anyway the main topic here is not Cuba.

ReplyDeleteCuba does provide facilities to train students from other poor countries. thts true and the docs may b wrking in poor countries too. all am saying is that they DONT HAVE AN ALTERNATIVE!! docs MUST work for GOVT. if i told u to work for me (govt) for say, Rs 10K a month, and i can put u in jail if u try to cheat, will u b happy?Freedom or Force? what u gonna select?

ReplyDeleteIt is not an unexpected thing. In Cuba, government provides job for everyone. So those who are pursuing studies in medicine would know what is in future for them. (If one of your relatives joins TTC course here in India, she/he and you know that she/he will have to work as a school teacher and how much he/she may earn, right?). The salary in a country is also dependent up on the living expense there. So you cannot make comparisons. If you are not compelled to earn a lot of money and keep it as reserve for your needs, you won't feel the need to accumulate a lot.
Agree with Shiju totally, this is something people cannot understand. They are just happy with the number of fake money they get, does not think about what value this money has got. They do not realize they never have a peace of mind because nothing assures them basic necessities even if they work hard all their life. Everybody is after growth ................
